Korea 2012: Day 11 and Day 12 (Donghae 동해시)

Hey there =) Thanks for continuing to view these posts! I truly appreciate the support.

This post is a continuation from my previous post Korea 2012: Day 9 (Noryangjin Fish Market 노량진수산시장)

So let's get back on with the Korea 2012 trips. You'll realise that I skipped Day 10 - that's because we only did shopping in Myeongdong. So we have now jumped ahead to Day 11.

We decided to go beyond Seoul and do something interesting, thanks to Jess who planned everything. So we boarded a bus at the Express Bus Terminal and headed to Donghae 동해시 (yes I can see the E.L.Fs out there freaking out) in Gangwon-do. If you read mandarin, Donghae 동해시 means 东海,which also means Eastern Sea. Donghae 동해시 is along the East coast of South Korea and the view is absolutely breathtaking there.

Take the subway to the Express Bus Terminal (Seoul Subway Lines 3, 7 and 9). Jess bought us tickets (because she speaks better Korean) and off we went. The bus ride was really comfortable and smooth, with the driver stopping halfway for everyone to get a toilet break.

Once we arrived at the bus station in Donghae 동해시, we took a taxi closer to access this caravan park (I did say we were doing something interesting).

Most of the shops we walked past were closed though and that was about afternoon time.

Of all the caravans, they gave us Jess and I the honeymoon couple suite lol.
The interior of the caravan which we stayed in for the night.
We stood strategically to cover the man proposing to the girl painted on the caravan.
The sun was so bright hence my face was smiling so awkwardly. Haha I ended up with that purple spot over your vision from staring into the sun for too long.
Haha seriously suck at posing photos. I told Jess this looks like I just landed on the bridge.
The ocean was really choppy and rough! I told Jess that the Dragon King 东海龙王 was in a bad mood.
Couple of stray dogs we met.. So adorable!
Sunset on the beautiful coast.
The only dinner we managed to find was Lotteria there. and a cool swing =)
We were going to wake up to see the sunrise but woke up too early so I sneaked a creepy shot of my favourite travel companion.
This was one of my favourite trips from my entire Korea holiday. The glow of the blue exaggerated by the white with a burning orange lining, the crashing of the waves and the shadowy wooden swing.
With one night's stay, it was time to say goodbye to the caravan and go back to Seoul.
The view of the glorious mountains on the way back to Seoul.

My verdict?Donghae is absolutely beautiful and amazing but I do caution you that transport is really inaccessible. Also, most of the people here can't speak English so there is a real language barrier. Body language was never so crucial in my life until I came here. The journey here also takes a while so be cautious of long travelling hours and lots of walking due to insufficient transport. There isn't much food open or available either especially in winter.

A key thing we didn't try out here was the sea train which I really want to try in future.

By the time we made our way back to Seoul, it was dinner time - MYEONGDONG AGAIN =) We picked a random restaurant which had cheap set meals for dinner. Pretty simple stuff but they were really yummy!

Till then,
