Hello there everyone! Welcome to Day 2 - a day to explore the touristy spots in Taichung with a hired driver.
If you missed out on Day 1, click on this link to be updated:
Taiwan 2016: Day 1 - Taichung Bound! (Chun Shui Tang - Miyahara - Feng Jia Night Market)
Day 2 started off with a delicious breakfast at our hotel in Taichung! You are given about 4 different breakfast options to choose from (different styles) so this is what we chose on Day 2.
Our previous driver, Xiao Pang Ge, was not free this time round so he introduced me to a friend of his who could take us on this trip instead. I'm so sorry I have actually lost the contact of this person as my phone reset so I could not resync my Wechat and such. There are many other options now on Klook or KKDay for you to book a driver of your own though so you can use those functions!
Our driver very nicely bought us a bunch of local Taiwanese bananas for the long drive! |
Our first stop was Zhong She Flower Market again, because my mum was too sick last time, and she, despite being the one who enjoys flowers the most, did not get to see Zhong She Flower Market for herself. Thus, I made a special request for us to come to this spot.
If you're a flower lover, this is definitely a great photo-taking spot. If you have a driver, it's something you could consider too.

For the next stop, it was time to head to Sun Moon Lake! Our driver took us to the pier first to board a ferry.

Admission Fee: NTD300 (round trip of the whole lake)
This is the famous shop! Sorry to this couple who were caught in my photo. |
Time for some street food! |
Stuffed chicken thighs are so delicious! They're filled with glutinous rice and spring onions which makes each mouthful tasty, yet not too satiating. |
This yam cake was divine! So crispy on the outside, yet packed with yam flavour. |
The signboard is hilarious, but we also got some deep fried sweet potato. |
Time to get back on the ferry! |
That's pretty much where the ferry ride will take you. We did the rest of the trip by car (courtesy of the driver!) Next stop, Wenwu Temple!
This temple is truly massive and you will feel tiny seeing all the massive structures and intricate artwork. |

After a quick meal, it was time to head back to the main city area in Taichung! We asked our driver to stop us at Feng Jia Night Market again since we did not get to finish wandering the area on Day 1. However, we had to admit, we were pretty tired so we just got some essentials and went back to rest for the night.
Fried squid is a literal must whenever I go to night markets. Seaweed flavour is my favourite. |
Here are some of the shops that were highly-recommended! I'm not sure if they are still open in 2023 so do your own research if needed.
